1. How long does it take to conduct a search?
Comprehensive reports are prepared and forwarded to your attention within one to three business days. Rush jobs are usually prepared on your behalf at no additional cost.
2. Is a report prepared and sent to me?
Yes, we prepare clear, comprehensive reports which are easy to read and understand, which can then be forwarded to your own clients or presented to a court of competent jurisdiction.
3. How will my search be sent: email, fax or first class mail?
If you order online, or if an email address is provided by you on the search request form, your report will be forwarded to you by email. If no email address is provided, the report will be mailed to you via first class mail and/or by fax if so requested.
4. Is every state searched in the Individual Profile and Real Property Search and the Business Profile Search, or just the state in which the subject resides?
Every state is searched for the same low price. For a more detailed description click on to "coverage" in this site.
5. Can you obtain bank, stock and bond information?
No. Presently, most states do not allow bank and stock account searches as each state’s Attorney General’s office believes that the searches may be in violation of an individual’s privacy and may violate state statutes pertaining to unfair and deceptive business practices. In addition, if you are an attorney, many Boards (ie Board of Bar Overseers) who regulate and license lawyers have stated that any attorney who has a bank or stock account search conducted on their behalf, could themselves, be held vicariously liable for the above-mentioned violations.
6. Must these searches be conducted for a "legitimate business purpose" and what constitutes a "legitimate business purpose?"
Yes. Any and all searches must be conducted for a legitimate business purpose, which includes, but is not limited to, the following examples: satisfying a lawyer’s due diligence in locating assets for a lawsuit or potential lawsuit where insurance may be limited; verifying financial statements for a business venture or divorce; locating a person for a probate matter, client contact, or the forwarding of business documents; landlord-tenant or employment screening; satisfying a child support obligation; or probating an estate.
7. What constitutes a "No-hit" search result?
A "No-hit" result is when no information could be obtained on a particular subject. This usually occurs if the subject is very young or if an alias is being used. A "No-hit" search result does not mean that no assets were located, as many individuals may have limited assets. In the event that there is a "No-hit", then you will only be charged $ 55.00 and a refund for the difference will be forwarded to your attention the same day.
