What is a “No hit” search result and do I have to pay the full price for a “No hit” result? A “No-hit” result is when no information could be obtained on a particular subject. This usually occurs if the subject is very young or if an alias is being used. A “No-hit” search result does not mean that no assets were located, as many individuals may have limited assets. In the event that there is a “No-hit”, you will not be charged and a refund will issued. Can I get bank account information on the subject? No. Under the Financial Services Modernization Act, except for some extreme limited exceptions, it is no longer permissible for anyone to conduct bank account search through false pretense, or other fraudulent acts. For more information on the legality of bank account search, please see Bank Account Searches, are they permissible or not? How come other companies claim that they are able to do bank account search? It is not uncommon to see ads for bank account searches by asset search companies but be aware. Any of those asset search companies who claim to be capable of conducting a bank account search is doing so by the use of false pretense. Not only is it an invasion of privacy, and considered to be an unfair and deceptive business practice to conduct a bank account search, it is also a federal crime under the Financial Services Modernization Act. If you order bank account search with the knowledge that false pretense will be used, you may be vicariously liable as well. Are my search requests confidential? Yes.
